Orange County Sexual Assault Prevention and Advocacy (SAPA)

Orange County Sexual Assault Prevention and Advocacy, (SAPA) is a Victim Assistance Program (VAP) of Mental Health Association in Orange County, Inc. (MHA). SAPA provides 24/7 advocacy services including crisis intervention and accompaniment for adult and child survivors of sexual violence. SAPA services also encompass the Sexual Assault Examiner (SAE) Program offering forensic evidence collection and post-sexual assault treatment for survivors of sexual violence. The SAE Program operates in collaboration with Garnet Health Medical Center, Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. SAPA also provides several educational programs focusing on raising awareness and decreasing incidents of sexual violence. These programs include: Shifting Boundaries for middle school students, Mentors in Violence Prevention for high school and college students, and professional development for law enforcement, medical, and counseling personnel. SAPA also offers referrals for survivors for 1:1 clinical counseling and our once annual 12 week adolescent and adult support group cohorts.
