Elmira Police Department Victim Services Program

The Victim Services Program of the Elmira Police Department is dedicated to helping reduce the trauma that crime victims may experience, and to make their contacts with the criminal justice system as comfortable as possible by providing information and emotional support as they move through the criminal and/or family court process. We provide assistance to all crime victims, witnesses, and their non-offending family members. Services available include but are not limited to: follow-up support, short term supportive counseling, explanation of victim rights and legal options, assistance filing for NYS Office of Victim Services compensation, criminal and family court accompaniment and advocacy, information and referrals for appropriate social services agengies, information on criminal justice process and case status, help in initiating return of confiscated property, assistance completing victim impact statements, and assistance with safety planning.
