"Red Hook CARES’ mission is to provide client-centered and trauma-informed advocacy, counseling, and case management to individuals who have experienced or witnessed crime, violence, or traumatic events. Beyond providing these services, Red Hook CARES also seeks to empower clients to achieve stability, safety, and healing in their lives; and to foster a healthier and more resilient community by offering safe, accessible, free, and confidential services to all. Red Hook CARES’ services focus on responding to victimization through counseling, advocacy, and case management for individuals who have self-identified as victims of crime. Specific services provided include: • Information about criminal, family, immigration and civil court systems; • Assistance with emergency housing transfers, orders of protection and public benefits; • Victim compensation applications for financial loss; • Individual and group counseling, wellness and support groups; • Risk assessment and safety planning; and • Referrals to community resources (legal, immigration, mental health, substance abuse, etc). "
