The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office (DANY) Witness Aid Services Unit (WASU) offers a trauma-informed and victim-centered support network within the criminal justice system to help victims and witnesses rebuild their lives in the aftermath of crime. A crucial part of this work is providing comprehensive social services (free of charge) to victims and their families. WASU services include housing and shelter placement, court-related services, counseling, social services and entitlement benefits enrollment, and emergency services.
