Nassau County District Attorney's Office

The Victims Services Unit of the Nassau County District Attorney's Office is staffed with Crime Victim Advocates and Legal Interpreters who work to ensure that crime victims are informed of their rights and that these rights are protected; to provide assistance, information and support to crime victims and witnesses; to assist victims, witnesses and their families, in navigating the criminal justice system and the process of a criminal case being prosecuted by the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office; and to offer services free of charge and available in multiple languages. The Crime Victim Advocates assist victims by providing information on crime victim assistance and compensation, referrals to outside agencies for social service needs, assistance with jail notifications, transportation assistance to attend court proceedings, court accompaniment and emotional support throughout the criminal justice process. The Legal Interpreters provide language assistance to victims and witnesses with limited English proficiency, as well as translation services for prosecutors and investigators.
