The Monroe County Sheriff's Office Victim Assistance Program is a comprehensive program that engages victims from the onset of victimization or immediately thereafter, and assists them through the criminal justice system. The program is available to residents of the entire county, but primarily assists areas not covered by other police agencies. These direct victim services include; crisis intervention, support, assessment, information and referrals, short term counseling for victims and their families, advocacy, court procedure information and accompaniment, assistance with property recovery and compensation claim assistance, in a manner that encourages the victim’s involvement and input into the process.
