Lifespan's Upstate Elder Abuse Center provides non-residential domestic violence services with a specialty in services for older adults (over 60). Younger adults who contact Lifespan will be provided emergency counseling and referred to counseling or shelter services for younger individuals. The Upstate Elder Abuse Center provides confidential advisement, investigation and intervention in cases of all forms of elder abuse including domestic violence. Trained, experienced social workers offer support and assistance to help victims of mistreatment to plan and enact safety plans including orders of protection. Respite services including temporary placement in a hotel, adult home or nursing home are available to escape a situation of immediate danger.
