"Victim Services Unit -provides support, advocacy, and information to individuals who have been criminally victimized in Brooklyn. The collaborative relationship between the social worker and prosecutor enhances both the criminal prosecution as well as to the ongoing safety and support of the survivor. At this time, Unit staff are able to provide services to victims in the following languages: Spanish, Russian, American Sign Language, Polish, and Mandarin. Among the services offered by the trauma-informed social workers and advocates are: • Safety planning • Crisis intervention and short-term counseling • Victim Notification • Information on court procedures and other related issues • criminal justice advocacy • NYS Office of Victim Services reimbursement applications assistance • Referrals to outside agencies. Our focus areas include: • High-risk IPV • Early Victim Engagement • People with Disabilities. • Teen Dating Violence Program • Sexual Assault • Elder Abuse • Human Trafficking • Homicide Outreach "
