Court Appointed Special Advocates of New York State is statewide non-profit that provide support, training, pass through funding and technical assistance to its 15 affiliate member programs. CASA programs are assigned by Family Court Judges to children's cases when there is an abuse or neglect allegation. CASA monitors a child's health, education, mental health, well-being, and permanency planning, reporting directly to the judge as to the child's needs so that the court can make decisions about what is in the child's best interests.
