Child Abuse

A New Hope Center is the comprehensive crime victim service provider of Tioga County. We providing free and confidential services to individuals affected by domestic and intimate partner violence, sexual violence and trafficking, and all other crimes. A New Hope Center offers supportive counseling, systems advocacy, and community education programs. We operate a 24-hotline and textline. We also operate a safe dwelling for those who need immediate housing when leaving an unsafe household.

The Advocacy Center of Tompkins County provides services and support for youth and adult victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and child sexual abuse. Our 24 hour hotline is available for those needing emotional support; legal, social services and medical advocacy; safety planning; referrals to support and empowerment groups, confidential shelter, to our Legal Services Program or our Therapy Program. Hotline staff will connect a caller with an advocate if accompaniment services are needed to file for an Order of Protection, to a Sexual Assault Forensic Exam or to the police to file a report. Our Child Advocacy Center services for sexually abused youth can also be accessed by calling our hotline.

The Advocacy Center of Tompkins County provides services and support for youth and adult victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and child sexual abuse including: 24 hour hotline; emotional support; legal, social service and medical advocacy; safety planning; support and empowerment groups and confidential shelter. We provide accompaniment to court appearances and help filing for Orders of Protection. Our Legal Services Program provides trauma informed legal representation and our Therapy Program serves youth and adults. We are the local provider for victims of commercial sexual exploitation, and we have a Child Advocacy Center response for victims of child sexual abuse.

Aid to Victims of Violence provides comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and other crimes. Accompaniment of a trained crisis worker for a client at hospitals, law enforcement agencies, District Attorney’s offices, and courts, etc. On-going supportive lay counseling provided by advocates as a victim moves through the healing process. 24-hour confidential hotline to provide support and options. Emergency safe housing for victims of domestic violence and their children, providing all basic needs including food, clothing, and shelter. CVSVC provides a 24/7 crisis hotline for victims of sexual violence, domestic and dating violence, stalking, elder abuse, and child abuse. Our trained and experienced responders will accept hotline calls and provide information, referrals, and support. We can meet you at a local hospital and provide an accompaniment for medical services, including a forensic rape exam. We will assist in completing a NYS Office of Victim Services application. We also offer a chat feature that can be accessed from the website.

CVSVC provides direct services to victims of crime of any age and gender in Albany County. We provide free and confidential therapy (individual, family, and group); case management services; campus based advocacy; criminal justice advocacy; prevention education and community mobilization; and a 24/7 crisis hotline. We provide emergency room and law enforcement accompaniments to victims of interpersonal violence.

AAFSC works across four priorities—Promote, Get Ready, Prevent, and Communicate—to achieve our ultimate goal of strengthening families. Through our wrap-around social services, AAFSC promotes mental and physical wellbeing, food security, healthy relationships, and family reunification by connecting community members to health and food access, mental health counseling, and legal services. We get our families ready to succeed, work, and lead productive lives through ESOL classes, civics lessons, caregiver support, and youth enrichment activities. We prevent domestic violence, child abuse, and neglect by equipping families with the tools to succeed, offering case management services to victims of violence and cultivating healthy relationship skills in young people. AAFSC also communicates the needs of the marginalized to partners and policymakers.
